Thomas Gentry


Thomas Gentry is an Associate Professor in the School of Architecture and Director of the Laboratory for Innovative Housing, a multidisciplinary research laboratory operating within the IDEAS (Infrastructure Design Environment and Sustainability) Center in the Lee College of Engineering and the Integrated Design Labs in the School of Architecture. Professor Gentry earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona (1991) and a Master of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology (1997).  He is a registered architect in Illinois, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Research Interests

  • Socially and environmentally responsible design through the integrative design process
  • Innovation in weatherization for low-income housing
